Isn't this in part due to the attributes of the modern footballer?
Be in position, be athletic, win the duels, high pass percentage...but don't be spontaneous, don't try the unusual...
we have a team of modern footballers that haven't found their rhythm as individuals or as a team yet...due to a whole raft of reasons
