Hiding in plain sight

Increasing revenues
Better fan experience
Moving long-term fans

From Attanasio's interview w Archant in July 2025
Words from the transcript, with my UPPER-CASE EMPHASIS.

ATTANASIO We don't, you know, we could actually focus on developing the team. OF COURSE, WE WANT TO MAKE THE FAN EXPERIENCE BETTER BECAUSE IT'S WE CAN MAKE THE FAN EXPERIENCE BETTER AT CARROW ROAD AND WE CAN MAKE MORE MONEY. IF WE MAKE MORE MONEY, WE CAN SPEND MORE MONEY ON PLAYERS because no matter how much money we have, I guess I made a bit of a face yesterday when they said, "Well, you couldn't spend the money." Well, yeah, we actually could. We have a lot of resources, but but you know, you're going to you can only spend 75% of your revenue. SO, WE GOT TO DRIVE REVENUES. So we want to do all that but the first priority is you know what happens on the pitch ...

ARCHANT but in terms of sort of improvements around that I know there's has been talk for years and years about expansion and clearly that's a very difficult thing to do and a time consuming thing to do. I mean where is your head at in terms of what the future of Carrow Road looks like and because you know and you spoke about this well last night it's clearly something that you've done at the Brewers in terms of stadium upgrades.

ATTANASIO We do we do the same thing with stadium upgrades in Milwaukee over 21 years that I talked about with players. You have a a long-term budget. You list every line item everything you want to do. Then you figure out how to sequence it and how to do it properly so that you get a return on investment. The fancy business term is, you know, ROI Anthony Richens. What's the ROI? You know, return on investment, you know, and sinking a lot of money into something that doesn't return on investment isn't very productive because you could take that money and use it for something else. Again, fortunately, we have the resources and the capex doesn't count. We don't it doesn't count against our headroom or ability to get players, but everything takes we're doing a a stadium renovation in Milwaukee now and has to get done over two seasons. Most of the things we see here and things we're looking at is really a two season thing where you do it through as soon as season finishes you do a bunch of construction then you have to stop then you can't use that part of you know Carrow Rd and then and when the next season's over you continue. AND SO WE WANT TO LOOK AT THINGS THAT OTHER TEAMS ARE DOING you don't we don't have to invent you know new ways to have uh great you know open experiences for younger supporters... figure where do we do it here. WHO DOES IT DISPLACE IF ANYONE? You know it's very hard if you've been sitting in the same seat for you know I I met with a a supporter last night who has been a season ticket holder here he said from when he was 1972 and he pointed to where he used to sit he showed me down at the end you know and I I don't I forget you know which end because it It's dark, but he you could see the seat. But now I moved over here. But that was his choice. WHEN YOU SAY, "WELL, WE'RE GOING TO KNOCK A BUNCH OF SEATS OUT SO GET A BIG OPEN AIR THING SO YOUNG PEOPLE CAN COME IN." THAT'S DISRUPTIVE. AND DO WE HAVE TO WORK, YOU KNOW, WORK THROUGH THAT. And we've got we've got to have at least a half a dozen projects sitting around Zoe's desk ....
