Some observations, maybe anecdotal data, if you want buzzwords

Under Lambert, Neil and Farke, when we had spells of possession, they would frequently culminate in shots. It was purposeful play. You could see that in Wrexham’s play the other week, Coventry’s and Stoke’s as well. Under Thorup we scored plenty (until the last couple of months of his time), without the shots, because the object wasn’t to shoot until the chance was as clear as possible. This season has been the opposite - the players ought to be realising this, yet none of them is taking any responsibility, nobody is taking a shot on, even from unpredictable situations. Is that the coaching or the players? Probably both.

The other concerning thing for me is how much worse we regularly seem to be after half time. Our predictability means opposition teams can tweak things, adapt their tactics and improve. We also get visibly weaker as games progress. The only time we improved towards the end of a game was against Wrexham, by which time it was too late.

I’m not one for manager merry-go-round, but I do think something drastic needs to happen. As a caveat, last time I felt this way, we appointed Bryan Gunn.
