Is that system fair or does it need an overhaul? To me it feels unfair although can understand that the premier league will want it as otherwise no team going up can even give it a go for fear of bankruptcy.
But it does seem to give relegated teams an unfair advantage on top of the fact that usually they’ll also bring in large amounts from sales when relegated.
I wonder if there’s a way to adjust it? Perhaps only allowing it to be used for player salaries rather than any other aspects such as transfer or agent fees?
Or is it even an issue? We regularly see teams relegated and melt down rather than go straight back up. So does it really give an advantage or does it just achieve its stated goal of allowing teams to fund a premier league squad without fear of bankruptcy if relegated?
