Re Norwich (city rather than football club)

Interesting to read comments below about players not wanting to come to Norwich. It reminded me about comments I read on a non-football forum recently made by people not from Norwich...

"The new shopping mall has some better shops of quality, but one can't help feeling very much that you are in "chav land" in those centres. The Cash ATM's only offer small amounts of money compared to London as choices, so I guess many in Norwich are poor. The general ignorance and lack of culture are not unsurprising as Norfolk is a peninsula. Victoria Wood once remarked that the only purpose of East Anglia was to stop people from Hull shopping at Lakeside."

"Actually, now you mention it, Castle mall was a bit chavvy and one strong recollection i have of Norwich was that EVERYONE dressed up to the nines just to go shopping. I went to Russell and Bromley and no one would serve me; they were busy flocking around a permatanned lady with heavy gold jewellery. Although I loved browsing, I now remember that I found the other shoppers very intimidating in all their finery. Not like friendly Bangor."

"The fact that "Trisha" broadcasts from Norwich and its only other claims to fame are Delia Smith and the Sale of the Century probably say it all. No wonder you are bored. I also notice that Trisha apparently is one of the few black or asian people to live in Norwich and I have been witness to a healthy level of racist attitudes in the city on my frequent visits."

"Well I love shopping in Norwich - all the usual stores available in the malls (especially the new one), individual shops in the streets, and much friendlier service than you gat in Essex, or even worse, London. I often drive over 50 miles to shop in Norwich because I prefer it to my local towns (Colchester, Chelmsford, Ipswich) and the huge centres (Bluewater and Lakeside - now if you want to talk about "chavs".....)"
