You’re right that the before then we didn’t have so many.

So I wonder what it’s? Is it a change in style to the high press? Or more inexperienced young players not managing their bodies? That doesn’t account for the lengthy injuries to the likes of Hanley, Gibson, Onel, Barnes etc though.
