For perspective here are the largest recorded London protests of all time.

15 February 2003 – Anti-Iraq War Protest
• Estimated turnout: 1–2 million (police said ~750,000; organisers ~2 million)
• Cause: Opposition to the U.S.-led invasion of Iraq.
• Significance: Widely considered the largest political demonstration in UK history.


31 March 1990 – Poll Tax Riots (Trafalgar Square)
• Estimated turnout: ~200,000 demonstrators
• Cause: Protest against Margaret Thatcher’s Community Charge (“Poll Tax”).
• Significance: Turned violent in central London; contributed to Thatcher’s downfall later that year.

26 March 2011 – Anti-Austerity Protest
• Estimated turnout: ~250,000–500,000
• Cause: Opposition to government austerity measures and spending cuts.
• Significance: Organised by the Trades Union Congress (TUC); one of the largest UK protests in decades.
