The fact it’s the only thing accompanying the announcement underlines it as damage control. As if the situation wasn’t embarrassing enough, he went and clarified that.

If Ipswich press ahead now, and we don’t. What then? If they beat us in the derby, what then?

Have they really thought about this? Does he really “absolutely understand the sentiment and feeling from our supporters?”
