More thoughts on yesterday
I agree with what several people have said about the system not yet working. Players didn't link up well. The few times it clicked it looked good but there was a lot of back and sideways against the low block.
One thing that hasn't been pointed out is that if often left Cordoba or Medic in position and having to make a key pass. Both were not great at this and gave the ball away. Particularly Medic. Neither had a great game imho. At the moment Medic looks slow (beaten at near post again) and is not an upgrade on Duffy.
Topic is great and will only get better.
Diallo is good but raw. Final ball / finishing needs improvement. But at least he makes things happen.
Vlad is going to be chalk and cheese I think. Brilliant saves and absolute howlers. He got away with at least two yesterday.
Until their goals it felt like a pretty balanced game although you felt like eventually an error from us would gift them something and so it was.
I was heartened by the 2nd half spirit. We didn't capitulate (I think we would have last season) and kept ourselves in the game.
