🎙️ Liam Manning's press conference ahead of NCFC's opening day clash against Millwall will take place at 2⃣pm this afternoon
---------------------------------------------------------

LM: “They are all in a good spot and have worked hard. We are good to go.”

LM: “It’s been a busy period and shows our intent. It has shown the areas that needed improving, and we’ve been proactive. We have been lucky with the support we’ve had from the guys above.”

LM: “Mirko brings a different profile to what we currently have in that area of the pitch. He’s a ball winner. Jovon is a home grown attacking players with loads of potential.”

LM: (On Kenny) “He is progressing nicely and working towards the intial timeframes. He’s still out there using his voice.”

*Lucien Mahovo is still a few weeks away from a return. But ‘mentally is in a good place.’*

LM: (On captaincy) “You will find out on Saturday, who steps in when Kenny isn’t available.”

LM: “It’s not just on me driving everything. It’s the collective of staff and players driving it and holding each their to account to drive standards.”

LM: (On Topic) “There has been lots of discussion about positions and profiles. When you talk about Mirko, you talk about his defensive qualities. That’s different to what we’ve got in that area. It gives us options.”

LM: “It’s not a fluke we’ve gone and added some with more physicality. But you still need that balance with smaller more technical players. We’ve got a good blend of physical qualities.”

LM: “Lee (Dunn) and the recruitment guys have done a magnificent job. When you look at the detail they go into. It’s now about getting those lads settled and finding an apartment. It allows them to be the best version when they play. I’ve been pleased with what we’ve done.”

LM: “Clarity and being up front, honest and straight to set expectations for players is key.”

LM: (On Chrisene) “That’s the challenge for Ben and us as staff to turn that potential into high quality performances. He can cover multiple positions, which is a strength. We will support and push him.”

LM: (On the openind day) “It’s harder as you don’t have multiple Championship games to watch an opposition. But it always comes back to us. It’s ultimately down to what we can control.”

LM: (On Millwall) “I’ve coached against Alex multiple times. Everywhere he’s been he’s done a terrific job. We know like every Championship game, it’s going to be a difficult one.”

LM: (On the fans) “Huge. We’ve been transparent with the players about them and forging that connection. We all have the same common goal of being successful. I’m super excited to be in front of a full house on Saturday.”
