There certainly is a touch of that to his game
the other thing I noticed is that generally Lampard seems to be playing much more short & tidy passing (usually ending up with the ball going out to Joe Cole in the last third of the pitch) whereas Beckham & Gerrard are playing raking diagonal long passes (probably 'cos they're playing deeper than Lampard).
I think he's looked tidy enough in his midfield play, certainly hasn't lost the ball needlessly or misplaced passes to any worrying degree.
The 4-5-1 formation with Hargreaves behind an advanced Gerrard & Lampard and Lennon coming on for one of the midfield with Beckham coming inside looks pretty good to me.
