Crouch has been quite poor so far, and we desperately need midfield cover if we're going to play Lampard and Gerrard together.

If Lampard is poor (again) Beckham can come inside (though he's been just as poor) and Lennon can come on.

I wouldn't be averse to seeing Lennon start against Ecuador but it's never going to happen.
