Anyone off of here appealed a PENALTY NOTICE parking ticket

Lost, and then waited for it to go away?

This seems to be the advice on MSE forums re penalty notices at railway stations, but it would be a shame to get a criminal record and not be able to visit USA at this great moment in history.
