In Major League Baseball, number 42 is retired for all clubs in honour of Jackie Robinson
first black American to play Major League Baseball. One day a season all players wear 42, which must be confusing for teams like the Yankees who don't have names on their jerseys.
Retiring numbers is new here, I think, only happened in the last few years.
