It’s their first appointment when in full control and they have seen Knapper fail on his first appointment so they may well have said at least for the first one they want a fairly established football league manager while staying with the up and coming bracket.

If manning fails it won’t be seen as a hugely risky appointment by knapper or the board.

Knapper wouldn’t have the same brownie points as Webber for bringing in left field unknowns. Webbers worked miracles. Knappers didn’t.
