Dismal?

He had a win ratio of 50% at NEC and got sacked after they lost in the the playoff semis

At Salzburg his ratio was 44%. Below expectation for the club, but his successors is exactly the same, albeit against slightly tougher opponents in the second half of the season.
Even so, it doesn't suggest that he massively under-achieved.

I'm not saying he will be great, and he is still pretty inexperienced, but to say his record is dismal is a bit of a stretch
