Politics has ceased to be about facts, or reason, or acknowledgement of a messy world with complex and imperfect trade offs. It's just about how you feel and most people feel pretty f**king angry and let down. But generally people feel pretty good about the party telling them that they know all the answers (they dont - I've read the Reform policy doc and its jam today for everyone without any idea of how), not least because most of the answers will involve s**tting on brown people. I think a lot of people really like that last bit, even though they wont say it out loud.
