I would say that demonstrates that we are a selling club

Over those 20 years we have never had a proper establish premier league period. Lambert era was best at I think three seasons? Also we’ve rarely had players who were highly sought after at the elite level. We have also never had income from European competitions. Therefore purchases and sales have been fractions of the transactions from the top 5 in that list, and Man Utd, which extrapolates onto any net profit or loss.

Villa, Southampton and Everton have indeed been selling clubs over the years. Leicester’s figure is probably inflated from their fire sale after winning the league.

I would be interested to see our numbers in relation to clubs closer to us in nature over those 20 years - Leeds, Blackburn, QPR, Reading, Swansea, Cardiff etc. There may be better examples but those were just some who popped in my head.

I’m not sure whether that comparison would show a different conclusion or the same, but it would certainly be a more representative sample.
