Had the game on in the background last night

But dipped in and out as I had other things to do. I mean it’s just inevitable how it goes at the moment right, so there isn’t any need to study the game to find out what’s going on.

We just can’t defend. We just concede way too many mental goals. We do play some very nice stuff going forwards sometimes, but we have to play amazingly well to get a result, like off the f**king charts, whereas our opposition just have to keep the show on the road to win through gifts.

We’re ranked 23rd in the division for clean sheets. We’re 7th worst for goals conceded. Scoring the occasional amazing team goal with that defensive record gets you smack bang into mid table.

The defensive side of the game hasn’t got better all season has it? Recently it feels like, if anything, it’s getting worse, more comedically bad. Guess we just have to hope that this system mysteriously “clicks” with the players and we suddenly stop throwing away horrible goals. Have to say I’m not hugely confident though, especially when we lose 2-3 of the better players in the summer. Real danger that Knapper is adopting the Arsenal way, but hasn’t appreciated what you’re limited to without an Arsenal budget to back it up. And JHT has a cracking system that works amazingly well in a mostly dog s**t league, but not in the industrial meat grinder of the championship.
