I do enjoy immersive games
Really enjoyed Civs 1 & 2 (and Pirates)
At some point (around 20 years ago) the football manager games (and these strategy games) became so detailed and immersive that they started to feel like actual work.
More recently, with the likes of Sunless sea/Stardew Valley/Hades (and now Balatro) - there's a real move to help draw people into a world, and where the world can be engaged with in smaller slices.
I'd hope that the new Civ can dial into that. I'm busy enough in life that I don't want to have to do a course to know how to play a game. The best game designs do this, and do this seemlessly.
