and Kelvin Davis was dogs**t for most of last season - he only played well against Man Utd (football psychologists refer to this as 'David Bentley Syndrome').
Whitehead's off to Liverpool, too, and Stead is just rubbish, basically.
It's a fairly mediocre squad otherwise, IMO, but then I'd have said that about Reading's at the start of last season. Nonetheless, I'm tipping Sunderland for play-offs, with Leeds, Palace, WBA and, I don't know, Leicester maybe.
