Persevere with your little finger, otherwise it will limit you in the long run.
I learned more in the first year of playing (on a crappy 20 quid nylon string guitar) than I have since. Get lots of tab and practise lots of songs. That will stop you getting bored or just playing the same things over and over again.
Learn to fingerpick as well as using a plectrum. The first (and best) book I ever had was this:
