We've got three of the best Central Defenders on the planet so the weakness of the gerrard lampard combo is minimized and can be shored up with a fifth midfielder when necessary.

Even if we had a midfield of makalele + gerrard, we would still have problems when meeting brazil or the argies because we just do not have the same level of attacking quality as them in the rest of our squad.
