I don't think so

We were being run by doncaster, the facilities were s**t, we had third party debt that we couldn't afford, relegation was looming and the possibility of administration was real. The squad was packed with loan players, or otherwise poor players (see jamesward's post below), with the only beacon of light being Wes, but at that time, we didn't really know that he was much of a beacon of light.

For me it's night and day, then vs now. We had no idea that relegation was going to work out so well, and really, there was a huge slice of luck involved with that. The double promotion and 3 year stint in the PL completely turned the club's fortunes around - debt paid off, investment in the squad, etc..

Yes, that era has seemingly come to an end for now, with no real pipeline of players coming through in the way we had when we transitioned from McNally to Webber, but still, we don't have crippling debt, we've got Attanasio coming through, the squad has some good players, even if it needs more.

How many players from that 2009 starting line up get a game for us today?

Maybe Clingan in midfield? Croft looked good then, but only because we were rubbish - he wasn't actually any better than Onel. Other than that, they're all s**te.
