He is just different getting forward. Old school get to the touchline and cross. Aarons

usually cuts into midfield and waits for the forward to work it wide.

But then we haven't seen Aarons in Wagner's system that he's had a summer to implement. Maybe he would do the same now and Wagner wants to keep his FBs wide and have his forwards tuck in to add more in the box. Leaves us more open at the back flank on the break, and is why we saw Rowe have to sprint back from advanced positions to cover the right back position a couple of times. It's possible that Fake and Smith both preferred the full backs to tuck in and the forwards to widen, which gives us more protection but often ended up with nobody in the box.

Worked great with Fake as we worked chances through the middle, but with Smith he tried that with crossing into the box to a 5' 10" striker and nobody else in the box.
