I nearly put 'Foreign' managers but I remember Alex Neil splitting with his wife

while he was our manager - I'm pretty sure the strain they felt with her remaining in Scotland didn't help.

T'was ever thus though. I think footy managers have always been obsessive, driven individuals and you have to sacrifice a lot if you want to live with them. I remember reading the biography of Bill Shankly. He retired as he promised to spend more time with his wife Nessie, but he couldn't bear it in the end and kept going back to the training ground.
