and were therefore in receipt of parachute payments, which narrow that gap a bit (as is the case with two of this season's promoted teams). The only promoted team that had to bridge the full Prem-Champs gap spent £200m and only just stayed up. Are either of these going to spend £200m? Luton look slightly better equipped to unsettle Prem teams as they at least have Brentford class physicality (not like our lightweight promotion teams), if not the quality.
