Having reviewed the summary graphic of the squad, it’s clear as day that the quality is poor across the board and the balance across the squad worse.

We lack quality on either wing and don’t have a single attacking midfielder / no 10. No bloody wonder Pukki stopped scoring and looked thoroughly dejected. And - as I think a few here have very perspicaciously noted - we don’t have a single CDM in the building. Still struggling to fathom why two years ago we spent 20m on two s**t left wingers, not a CDM.

All that sitting in front of a defence that is very leaky and accident prone, that lacked CB cover even before Handley’s injury, and containing FBs that aren’t so good at defending.

Frankly, this squad is an absolute f**king mess. I can see why we struggled to defend and struggled to score goals and ended up second bottom on the form table.

And all this is before we sell a bunch of the better players in the squad to pay the bills. Which means that unless the recruitment team plays a blinder (yeah, gulp) this might well get worse.

Expectations need to be managed for next season. Top half would be absolutely excellent from this lot.
