Maybe initially Webber didn't have time to look in depth at academy players. It got to preseason and Lewis impressed but we needed an experienced full back to come in. Would have been a bit niave to start a season with Lewis who had not played a competitive game. Husband was cheap anyway.

Webber got rid of a lot academy staff earlier doors didn't he. Probably because they couldn't spot a player right beneath their noses!
