you are correct

Sending off is for foul play preventing a goal being scored. The so called *last man rule* Had he not blown so quickly and allowed play to go on and the goal stand. The most he could have done under the rules as they stand would be to yellow card Lehamn. Unfortunatley he blew immediately, once he had done that he had no option but to send him off.
