Hard to disagree
Certainly if we went up, I can only see weekly annihilations. Worse than anything we have served up in previous prem seasons.
To have any hope we’d have to do a Forest in terms of spend and player turnover. And i) we haven’t got that sort of money, and no way Attanasio provides that level of money spaff and ii) is anyone confident we could spend the money even remotely well? The track record of the recruitment team is now officially appalling.
But that all feels academic, as we’re not going up anyway, thank god. I couldn’t stand the humpings and the condescension from all sides.
Given that, it feels like a root and branch strategy review is needed. Why are we recruiting so badly? Why are so few players coming through the youth set up and when they do why do they so often look out of their froth? Why are we making so many fatal errors all over the pitch? Why this season have we often looked unfit? Have we erred by spending so much money on “the facilities”, trying to buy players with most focus on selling them later and our youth set up, rather than focussing ruthlessly on the first team. And why have club comms gone absolutely to s**t? Is the executive/board structure right with so many members in the same family.
That’s just off the top of my head.
