Sheff Utd best team today and deserved win BUT

much talk on here about how boring modern football and today was bloody awful. For me, the refereeing has much to answer for this. These changes need to happen ASAP. Free-kick awarded and any player who either picks up the ball or kicks it away, booking. Any player who goes down injured, play on but ref can wave on trainer. Any time-wasting of any sort, booking. Any barracking by a player or manager/coach, booking. It’s somewhat humourlessly called “s**t-housing” but it’s ruining the game. Sure it’s great if you’re team is leading and s**t-housing but it stagnates the game and makes it utterly boring to watch. With ten minutes to go today, the Sheff keeper went down with the usual fake injury, he started to get up and their centre-back came over and pushed his shoulders down to stop him getting up. It’s almost accepted as part of the game, “game management”. It isn’t, it’s s**t and it’s killing the game. Referees have all the powers but ultimately don’t use them. The result is a game today where the most excitement was a handbags-brawl.
