Denver Broncos (NFL) recently sold for $4.65bn off the back of $526m pa revenues (sub $500m over the past 5 years or so)

Man U is off the back of $629m pa revenue (and has been far more consistent around that level for the past 5 years and has been over $700m recently)

Factor in football having greater global appeal as an economic unit and for PR, I don't think the £6bn/$7bn Glazers want (vs will get) is outrageously toppy.

For the type of buyers in that sort of market, it's all play money. Whether it's $5bn or $6bn or $7bn, none of it matters to them. For some, the higher figures might perversely bring more prestige - "look how rich we are!"
