Time for the head coach's press conference ahead of Sunday's fixture against Sunderland 🎙
----------------------------------------------------------

DW on Sarge: "He is fully in contention, he's trained for the last couple of sessions with the team."

DW: "Gabby was ill and didn't train Monday or Tuesday but has been in since then."

DW on Jon Rowe: “Last week’s U21 game got cancelled. He will get further minutes for the U21’s this Monday. We look strong in offensive areas, so we can give him time.”

DW on Jacob Sorensen: “Lungi is now a proper option for the starting shirt. He has worked very hard in both positions that he has played. He is so smart and a brilliant character.”

DW on Onel Hernandez: “I don’t know what happened before. He has been top class. We still need to work on his fitness, so he can provide over three games in a week. He deserves all this praise.”

DW on Hernandez’s contract: “I am sitting down with Stuart (Webber) during the international break to discuss the individual players.”

DW on set-pieces: “Maybe we can do this two games in a row (chuckles). You can have the best idea as a set-piece coach, but then the execution isn’t good enough. We must be able to mix it up and see what works.”

DW on Allan Russell: “We won’t look to replace him now. Andy Hughes took the lead for the past few weeks on set-pieces. We might reassess in the summer.”

DW on Allan Russell’s departure: “We wish him all the best. Both parties agreed on this decision. I don’t want to say anymore on this.”

DW on Millwall: "I don't like to rate victories, it's not fair. At the end of the day, we have had to fight for every single point so far. It was a huge win, we don't underestimate it."

DW on Millwall: “We have had to fight for every point so far. They were on a good run and we fell behind. The atmosphere was intense and we came through it. We deserved to win.”

DW on performances: “The performance at Millwall was on a high level. We didn’t play good at Wigan, but we fought. Angus Gunn has been brilliant. Everybody was allowed to be happy for two days. Since Monday we have been fully focused on Sunderland.”

DW on Sunderland: "We need to make a special atmosphere, everybody needs to know and feel that we have a chance to make it four wins in a row."

DW on Sunderland: "They have a young squad, a lot of energy. Before the last three games, they were challenging and in the top six."

DW on Sunderland: “Yes, they conceded five. Two from set-pieces, but the rest were on the counter-attack. Therefore, it wasn’t a five goal game. We don’t look on their recent results, we know this is a good team.”

DW on growing confidence: “I feel and see with more time that everything starts to get more harmonious. I feel this. We still have to work for it.”

DW: "We have three games in a week, I said from the start 'leave your ego in the car park', whether you start or are a sub, you have to be ready to deliver."

DW on current form: "With more time together and with successful periods, everything has more harmony, better understanding. It doesn't mean it is automatically there, my job is to remind everyone to do it."

DW on KO time: “Strange time isn’t it.”
