It's borderline legal HOWEVER

Ofcom have made very loud noises about providers applying it so if you want to exit your contract then you'd have a good argument to say it's an unreasonable term and gives you the right to terminate.

Especially with a rise so close to contract signature, and therefore all the blurb around the price is obviously misleading.
