you would think most managers would go with the former.

As for the club using talent, of all the players we have let go/sold, very few have gone on to do anything which kind of suggests that the club has a decent eye for knowing if a talent will make it.
The players who did get a push into the first team have done pretty well on the whole.

Bottom line is I trust coaches/SDs who work with the talent everyday to judge if they are ready or not.
He might well be ready for a shot. I guess we will find out.
