Yeah - aaaaand that sometimes young/middling solids can become stars
in the right system and with the right coaching.
We've got quite a few who feel like they fit in that category:
Gunn
Andy O
Dowell
Nunez
Idah
All have aspects which make me think that they could become solid lower/mid prem players (or, if not, ply their trade in the champs or lower).
I guess I don't really think there's *that* many naturally gifted players who will succeed regardless. Pretty rare to have more than one or two in a side at any one time.
Most of the players have gifts - which when paired with hard work and luck - can lead to strong careers at a decent level.
To the list above I think you could also add:
Barden
Bali M
Gibbs
Tzolis
----------
The big gap/weak point... To reiterate Jim's lament - is that we really rely on having a Tettey/Skipp/now McLean deep lying midfielder who is able to slot into the back 3/back 4 to allow the fullbacks to bomb on, in order for our team as a whole to tick. Having another player in that role, for me, HAS to be a priority - so that in lack of form/injury etc we're not beggared.
