I think Webber needs substantial blame too

As much as Smith tried to force a style of play on a squad of players so unsuited for it it destroyed confidence, Webber has built a squad which has monumentally failed.

I will forever fail to understand why we spent all our money on two South Americans who were never going to be able to hit the ground running rather than - for example - competing with WBA for players like John Swift and Jed Wallace who are consistently among this league's top performers and were available on a free.
