Oh I see it’s a spoiler. What a t**t.

Anyhow, I do quite like opera and I shall now simultaneously bore you and show off with my opera experiences. My auntie was a contralto for Covent Garden and Sadler’s Wells from the 1950-1970s and although I hated it as a child I later grew to enjoy it. The secret is go to a well known one, preferably with subtitles displayed and read up on the general story beforehand. It impresses and much as it bores. Go to a big production, dress up, make it an event, don’t go in a fleece and baseball cap.
We went to the Prague Opera house on our honeymoon and saw LaBohème, beautiful. Grown men crying in the audience. Since been to Bregenz opera on the lake, Covent Garden, ENO, theatre royal of course and saw Placido Domingo in the Verona arena last summer.
Do it.
