Like I said, his prerogative, but Wagner is a German name.

In Germany they called him Wagner German-style. He’s probably (obviously only my guess) happy to switch between the two. Did he take the name from his stepfather? That’s interesting if so.

Actually the whole pronunciation of family names is, in my opinion, quite a fascinating area. But then I’m weird.
