I think we're in a much worse position than then

at least back then we had a lot of saleable assets (we were also able to shift most of our high earners) and excellent young prospects about to break through.

This time around we have as many financial liabilities, but also have a squad full of overplayed players who we'd struggle to give away, given the inflated contracts many of them are on.
