That would make no sense

Top six after relegation would be par to expectation I would think. Bonuses for survival (which didn't happen of course) and for promotion back to the PL. And clauses such as suggested above whereby sacking results in less compensation if the team is performing below par (i.e. outside playoff places) after x number of games.
