The situation with Smith is just par for the course in
football and of course has happened many times at Norwich. The only difference at Norwich is that we always seem to leave it too long before sacking managers when it clearly is never going to work. Smith should not be Norwich manager and in general from what I’ve watched I think the fans have been reasonably patient. As regards him saying he’s never faced this level of criticism well at Villa he was sacked before it got this bad and as a club ‘legend’ he didn’t get as much stick as Gerard did before his departure. His family? Not good I agree, but I doubt and hope that they have personally been targeted with any abuse. Of course it’s not good for them to hear the chanting but Smith criticising the supporters after. Blackburn made it inevitable last night when we were out thought and fought. I find it difficult to have much sympathy with Smith although Webber’s behaviour and comments have definitely made the situation worse.
