Without the CCFC rent and match day revenue, the ground runs at a massive loss. CCFC intend to build a new ground and leave. This may be an attempt by Ashley to force the sale of the club to him to prevent that.
Ashley is unlikely to be able to redevelop the ground for, say, housing. The council own the freehold.
But look on the bright side - Coventry are c**ts.
