Anyone want a fight - or measured discussion?
My local MP - the delightful Mark Francois was reprimanded in Parliament for using the word "Japs" rather than "Japanese" as it was deemed to be racist.

Whilst I disagree with him on almost everything that he stands for I find myself objecting strongly to this being taken as a racist term - the news article went so far as to say that we should use full terms for things such as Chinese or Pakistani rather than the shortened versions.
This is woke gone mad! Does this mean that we should take offence at the Aussies when they call us "Poms" or that the Kiwis will take offence at being associated with their national bird?
I see no problem with abbreviating descriptive titles - yes most have historic negative implications but that is the joy of the mongrel that is the English language!
