I think watching theatre at the cinema is better than missing out on a play altogether but
I agree, it doesn’t replace the experience. I’ve always enjoyed the NT productions I’ve seen and the staging has always been imaginative and usually successful.
I think the last I went to see was also at the cinema. It was their version of LaBelle Sauvage which is set almost entirely on a flooded river. They managed to achieve this with the use of lights. It was fantastic!
