… but weren’t quite a few of Burnley’s players last night on loan? This brings its own issues later down the line, but still, having watched them play like we used to, it narked me off.

There were also quite a few Belgians. Reminiscent of our German identity, players playing as a team with something to prove, well coached and patient. Watching that young winger, who was pretty much unplayable for the first 20 minutes, reminded me of Buendía - we couldn’t get the ball off him.

The much vaunted “plan / philosophy” was evidently just words. As much as anything, this annoys me. It was tantamount to just lying to placate the supporters and try to get them off Farke’s back when they realised it would take time to get going. Obviously they’ve realised that’s not an approach that will work long time so they’ve just decided to stop communicating.
