maybe it's a fitness issue

failing to string really basic passes together, like last night, can't be the result of coaching. I could have played a lot of the many passes that were under-hit or mis-directed in that last twenty minutes - they were that simple.

But we do have a squad of players without great physical attributes. And perhaps the training also has not prepared them well enough to cope with the very intense schedule this season. So we have ended up with a knackered squad by mid-October. Half of them injured, the other half looking slow of mind and body.

I think that might be why Smith likes Ramsey and McLean. At least they bring a bit of energy and running to the team. Whereas Webber seems to want to stack the squad with yet more technical players who are slow and weak.
