Is anyone else fretting a bit about this summer's (in)activity?

We've bought two midfielders - one proven but crocked, the other unproven and crocked.

We've recalled a couple of decent players, Hugill and Onel.

Otherwise it's the same collection who were dismal under Farke and dismal under Smiffy.

It's really depressing looking back at Youpipe videos and seeing the quality we had under Farke - Emi (sob), Vrancic, Maddison, Godfrey. Even Old Stiepy and Super Tommy Trybull, thought of as lesser players then, would have walked into this side. Jordan Rhodes infinitely better than Sarge or Rashica. The quality has massively dropped thanks to our terrible purchases last season.

It's as though the club is saying "Well they were bought for the prem; they may have failed in the prem but they must at least be good enough for the Champs; they're what you've got plus a few yoofs so get on with it".

It's really depressing to think that we're probably going to put out a team against Cardiff consisting entirely of the same faces who were so poor last season. Smiffy must be tearing his hair out, no wonder he's spent the summer comfort eating.

The players I'm currently most excited about are Hugill and Onel! (I would be excited about Hayden ... but he's crocked.)
