the workscape is changing... maybe train companies will reduce
fares to lure people to use them (doubful), maybe coffee shops and sandwich bars will move into the suburbs to cater for the WFHers... the ones near me are very busy - in some areas of the City in that there London there is quite literally a Pret on every corner... totally unsustainable. re Social interaction... it is nice but it doesn't outweight the rest. I get plenty of interaction with my colleagues and I also now have a new set of colleagues in Chicago to work with. It is an eniviatable change for the good (unless you own loads of commercial property - in which case, get creative!). And before we go down the Pension Funds suffer with that route, all the funds I know of are dumping commercial as fast as they can.
